We handle contract, consumer and payment disputes: from a letter of claim and negotiation to a claim in the County Court (Small Claims / Fast Track). A clear action plan and communication in Polish.

How we can help

Contract and payment disputes

  • Non-performance or poor performance of a contract
  • Letters before action and negotiations
  • County Court claims and enforcement of judgments

Consumer rights

  • Complaints, refunds, faulty goods and services
  • Chargeback / Section 75 (credit cards)
  • Mediation / ADR and settlements

Landlords, deposits and debts

  • Tenancy disputes and unprotected deposits
  • Section 21 notices and evictions
  • Debts and enforcement action by bailiffs

Recovering an unpaid debt or invoice

  1. Organise the evidence - contract, invoices, correspondence, proof of delivery.
  2. Send a Letter Before Action stating the debt, the amount and a deadline (usually 14 days).
  3. Consider a payment plan or settlement.
  4. Issue a claim - through Money Claim Online or the County Court.
  5. Enforce the judgment - bailiffs, deductions from earnings, charging orders or third-party debt orders.

Small claims and limitation

Claims of up to about £10,000 normally go to the small claims track in the County Court: hearings are less formal and often remote, and you may act without a lawyer. Legal costs are generally not recoverable from the losing party, so it is worth assessing whether a claim makes economic sense. Contract and debt claims are normally time-barred after six years.

If you receive a claim or demand

Do not ignore court papers. Deadlines are short - usually 14 days to acknowledge and up to 28 days to file a defence. Failure to respond can lead to a default judgment and a County Court Judgment (CCJ), which affects your credit file. Paying in full within a month of the judgment can lead to its removal from the register.

Consumer complaints and renting

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 goods must be of satisfactory quality, as described and fit for purpose, and services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill. For faulty goods you generally have 30 days to reject; in the first six months the seller must prove the fault was not there on delivery. Credit-card payments for items costing £100 to £30,000 may be covered by Section 75, and debit-card payments by chargeback.

A tenancy deposit in England must be protected in a government-approved scheme, and the landlord must give you prescribed information, normally within 30 days. Otherwise you may claim between one and three times the deposit. In England no-fault Section 21 evictions ended on 1 May 2026; a landlord now has to rely on a statutory ground. Wales and Scotland have their own rules.

How we work

  1. A free initial consultation (about 15 minutes) - assessing the documents and the chances.
  2. A strategy: a pre-action letter, mediation / ADR, or a claim.
  3. Representation in court / finalising a settlement and collecting the amount due.
  4. We always present the costs and possible risks before a claim is filed.

FAQ - civil and consumer disputes in the UK

What kinds of civil disputes do you handle?Show answer

Contract disputes (non-performance or poor performance), consumer complaints, refunds, return of advance payments and deposits, debt collection and settlements. We prepare letters before action, negotiate and represent you in court.

Do you deal with small claims?Show answer

Yes. We handle Small Claims in the County Court - we prepare the claim or the response, the evidence, the correspondence and the hearing. We also assess whether the case is worth pursuing and its chances of success.

Can a case be resolved without going to court?Show answer

Very often, yes. We use a Letter Before Action, mediation / ADR and settlement negotiations. Court is the next step when talks bring no result.

Do you help with consumer disputes?Show answer

Yes. Improperly performed services, faulty goods, no refund, chargeback / Section 75 - we gather the documents, make complaints and pursue the claims.

How long do I have to recover a debt in the UK?Show answer

Contract and ordinary debt claims are normally time-barred after six years. The clock can restart if the debtor acknowledges the debt in writing or makes a part payment.

Will I get my legal costs back in a small claim?Show answer

Usually not. In the small claims track legal costs are mostly not recoverable, so the cost-benefit of a claim should be assessed first.
